Mountain Hawks win Bucknell Fall Invitational title

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Four players posted top ten individual finishes to lead Lehigh to its first tournament win since 2009 as the Mountain Hawks captured the eight-team Bucknell Invitational, which wrapped up Saturday on the Bucknell Golf Course. The Mountain Hawks shot a final round 296 to post an 11-shot victory over one of two teams from the hosts Bucknell.
 
Lehigh finished the tournament at 887 (294-297-296), to win for the first time since  April 2009, when the Mountain Hawks won the 21-team Lafayette Invitational and the four-team Lehigh Valley Collegiate.
 
The Mountain Hawks were led by junior Andrew Arnold, who fired Lehigh's low round of the tournament (70) on Friday and followed up with a 76 on Saturday to tie for third at 220 (74-76-70). Freshman Harley Abrams, senior Sean Keller and sophomore Carlos Kim also posted top ten finishes for the Mountain Hawks. Abrams tied for seventh after shooting 222 (73-75-74), while Keller (73-77-73) and Kim (74-75-74) both shot 223 to tie for ninth. Lehigh's fifth team scorer was junior Alex DiClemente, who shot 235 (81-79-75) to tie for 27th place.
 
In addition to the five scorers, sophomore Zach Allinson and freshman Jonathan Heydt competed as individuals. Allison fired a final-round 73 and tied for 12th at 226 (78-75-73), while Heydt shot 230 (76-75-79) and finished in 19th place.
 
Dan Bernard from the host Bison captured medalist honors, shooting six over par 216 (69-71-76) for a two shot victory over teammate Luke Edelman.
 
Bucknell's “BU Blue team” finished second to Lehigh at 898 (310-299-289) while the other Bison squad took third at 903 (296-299-308).
 
Next up for the Mountain Hawks is the two-day Hartford Invitational, September 24-25 in South Kent, Conn.
