Lehigh places 93 women on Patriot League Academic Honor Roll

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – As part of a week-long celebration of the 40th anniversary of Title IX, the Patriot League announced all seven of its women's winter/spring Academic Honor Rolls on Wednesday. Lehigh was well represented as the Mountain Hawks accounted for 93 of the over 650 women's student-athletes named to the honor roll.
 
To be eligible, a student-athlete must have a 3.20 or higher grade point average during the academic semester which coincides with her sport. Wednesday's announcement covered women's basketball, women's swimming and diving, women's lacrosse, rowing, softball, women's tennis and women's track and field.
 
From a Lehigh perspective the women's track and field program had the most Academic Honor Roll selections with 29, followed by rowing with 15 and lacrosse with 14. The swimming and diving program had 13 selections, while basketball had ten, softball seven and tennis five.
 
Nine of Lehigh's 93 Academic Honor Roll honorees posted 4.0 GPAs in the spring semester: rowing freshmen Corey Johnson and Alison Yirinec, swimming and diving seniors Lauren Armstrong, Alyssa Siano and Paola Simon, tennis sophomore Jill Sloand and from the track and field program seniors Brittany Pietrosh and Lauren Sternick and sophomore Kylie Gray.
 
Lehigh had one female student-athlete voted Scholar-Athlete of the Year in the winter/spring seasons, softball senior Jen Colquhoun, who earned the honor for the third straight year and went on to become a first team Academic All-American. Colquhoun posted a 3.65 GPA in the spring as a biochemistry major.
 
Ten of Lehigh's Academic Honor Roll selections were voted to Academic All-Patriot League teams at the conclusion of their regular seasons. This group includes the aforementioned Colquhoun, Sloand and Brittany Pietrosh plus seniors Leigh Ann Torcivia (lacrosse), Jackie Ogden (rowing), Lauren Pietrosh (track and field), Katherine Pierce (track and field), and juniors Kelly Peterson (basketball), Daniela Sonderegger (swimming and diving) and Rosie Roessel (softball).
 
A total of 666 student-athletes were named to the women's winter/spring academic honor rolls. The 93 Mountain Hawks ranked third among league schools. Links to the Academic Honor Roll releases for all seven sports can be found below.
