Adam Frey Classic in the Valley

The fourth annual Adam Frey Classic, an annual event that was created in memory of former Cornell and Blair Academy great Adam Frey, will take place on Sunday, June 24 at historical Grace Hall on the campus of Lehigh University. Fifteen All-Americans will square off in this year's event with the marquee matchup coming at 184 pounds where Lehigh University All-American and NCAA finalist Robert Hamlin will face NCAA champion Ed Ruth of Penn State.

“Adam wrestled at Lehigh in both his prep career and in college, so we have a lot of fond memories of Adam competing here on the campus of Lehigh University. I know he is very happy with the decision of Lehigh hosting this year's Adam Frey Classic--I know I am,” said Cindy Frey, Adam's mother.

The main event, which is being billed as Blair vs. the Angry Fish, begins at 2:00p.m. Tony Buxton, son of Blair legendary Blair coach Jeff Buxton, and other Blair alumni will coach the Blair team and Mark McKnight and Ty Moore will coach the Pittsburgh-based Angry Fish squad.

“I think it's great that these high-caliber athletes have decided to compete in honor of Adam. The Adam Frey Classic in an annual event held in the memory of Adam Frey that pits college and post-graduate wrestling all-stars against each other in a dual meet format. All proceeds benefit the Adam Frey Foundation, an organization started by Adam Frey that was established to provide for the needs of cancer patients beyond research or medical care. The Classic has been modeled in Adam's vision to not only be an event to see great athletes compete , but also be a festive atmosphere to celebrate Adam's life and the friendships wrestling has brought to all of us.
