Mountain Hawks finish fifth at Roar-EE Invitational

SUFFERN, N.Y. – Lehigh's final event of the spring season, the Roar-EE Invitational, was shortened to 27 holes because of rain Saturday at Spook Rock Golf Course. The Mountain Hawks concluded their spring by finishing fifth in the 13 team field. Lehigh's first round leader, freshman Crystal Lee, could not keep the momentum into day two as she shot a 12 over par 48 to drop to seventh place at 118 (70, 48).
 
Sophomore Chelsea Michalek led the Mountain Hawks on day two shooting a 39 to move into a tie for 18th at 122 (83, 39). Michalek tied with classmate Ginette Schapira who followed a first round 81 with a second round 41.
 
Others who competed for Lehigh were senior Emily Endres who shot 43 on Saturday to tie for 26th at 123 (80, 43); and sophomore Natalie Lansing who tied for 54th at 135 (89, 46).
 
Michelle Piyapattra of Columbia captured the individual title, shooting a 112 (74, 38), two shots better than Katelynn Mannix of Siena.
 
Penn and Fairleigh Dickinson were the top teams at 33 over par 465. The Quakers shot 156 on Saturday while the Knights posted a 160. Columbia took third at +41, followed by Siena at +48, Lehigh at +51 and Sacred Heart at +59.
