Mountain Hawks place 17th at Regionals

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The Lehigh women's cross country team placed 17th at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Qualifiers with 457 points. In her final cross country race in the Brown and White, senior Katherine Pierce capped an illustrious career with a 43rd-place finish and a time of 23:07.4.
After Pierce, sophomore Jessica Kendzor was the next Lehigh runner to cross the finish line, placing 69th with a time of 23:49.0. Freshman Savanna Plombon capped off an impressive rookie campaign with a 77th-place finish (24:04.7) followed by sophomore Katherine Howley (131st, 24:55.2), sophomore Marissa Galante (144th, 25:12.2), freshman Shannon Nelson (149th, 25:16.5) and senior Amanda Gosselin (166th, 25:57.0).
Villanova and Georgetown tied for first with 57 points each while West Virginia was close behind in third with 64 points. Villanova senior Sheila Reid won the race with a time of 21:32.7, edging out Georgetown senior Emily Infeld by 1.3 seconds.
The top two teams and the top four individual runners qualify for the NCAA Championships while teams and individuals (who finish in the Top 25) are eligible for an at-large to the race which will be held in Terre Haute, Ind. and will be contested Monday, November 21st.
