Lehigh finishes sixth at Rutgers Invitational

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Lehigh finished up play at the Rutgers Invitational on Saturday, with the Mountain Hawks finishing sixth in the 17 team field. The Mountain Hawks shot an 892 (293, 302, 207) over the 54-hole tournament to finish three shots ahead of Fairfield and three behind Lafayette and Rutgers who tied for fourth.
 
Newberry College ran away with the team title, shooting a five-under-par 847, 19 shots better than second-place Seton Hall. Columbia placed third with an 879.
Junior co-captain Doug Marcincin led the way for the Brown and White with a 54-hole score of 219, good to tie for 15th place. Marcincin's final round 71 marked the low round for a Mountain Hawk on the weekend.
 
Other Lehigh competitors on the weekend were freshman Alex DiClemente, who tied for 20th at 222 (73, 76, 73), senior Dwight D'Iorio who tied for 25th at 223 (72, 75, 76), Duncan Zeiders, who shot a 231 (76, 75, 80) to tie for 49th and sophomore Sean Keller, who tied for 52nd at 232 (78, 77, 77).
 
Individually, Seton Hall's John Dawson Neufeld captured medalist honors with a two-under 211 (74, 68, 69), one shot better than Newberry's Matt Campbell.
 
The Mountain Hawks will return to the links next Friday and Saturday at the Bucknell Invitational in Lewisburg, Pa.
