Latest Presidents' Cup Standings released

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Patriot League released the latest 2009-10 Presidents’ Cup Standings on Wednesday and Lehigh checked in with 65 total points, which places the Mountain Hawks in second place overall. The men (32 points) are currently second overall, while the women (33 points) sit in third place. Bucknell is the current overall leader with 73 points, and is followed by the Mountain Hawks, Navy, American, Colgate, Army, Lafayette, and Holy Cross.
On the men’s side, Bucknell has totaled 34.75 points throughout the fall and winter to keep its lead. The Bison had strong showings at both the indoor track and field championship and at the swimming championship to hold off Lehigh. The Mountain Hawks check in at number-two with 32 points, which is four and a half ahead of Navy. The Midshipmen are followed by American, Lafayette, Army, Colgate and Holy Cross. The Lehigh men’s basketball team won the Patriot League tournament and regular season championships.
In the women’s standings, Bucknell currently sits on top with 38.25 points, followed by Navy, with 33.5 points. Lehigh checks in at number three, while Colgate, American, Army, Holy Cross and Lafayette round out the standings. The Lehigh women’s basketball team finished the season by winning the Patriot League tournament championsship after sharing the regular season title with American.
Presidents’ Cup points are based on a team’s performance in the regular season and postseason. Bucknell has won 15 Presidents’ Cups. Lehigh has yet to capture the Presidents’ Cup, but the Mountain Hawks have finished second twice.
