The Lehigh Valley Steelhawks front office staff is hard at work preparing for the 2011 Indoor Football League season which kicks off on Saturday, February 26th against the Reading Express. The IFL is a 22-team Professional Indoor Football League that spans from Alaska to Pennsylvania. Our first Home Game is scheduled for Saturday, March 19th here at Stabler Arena.
Since July, Mike Clark, who is serving as the teams Executive Vice President, has moved to the Bethlehem area and begun the process of setting up their offices in Coopersburg. The team then brought on Chris Drayton and Robert Wynn, both Lehigh Valley natives, to serve as Vice President of Performance Partnerships and Director of Ticketing respectively.
Rounding out the Front office staff, the Steelhawks hired Richard Britt, a Virginia native, to be the team's first ever Head Coach and Director of Football Operations. To date, Coach Britt has already signed 30 (Including Lehigh All-American Linebacker Matt Cohen) players through free agency, trade, and two successful open tryouts that were both held on the Goodman Campus of Lehigh University. With 45 players allowed to attend February's training camp, the team is well on their way to being ready for opening day!
With a little over two months until the teams first game, the staff is currently focused on finding valuable performance partners, selling season and individual tickets, and engulfing themselves within the community. In our short months we have received a great amount of support from the local media, the surrounding region, and are gaining more and more momentum with the local businesses in the area. Our notoriety is increasing with each passing day.
We hope that each person within the Lehigh University family can make it out to at least one Steelhawks game this season to enjoy the fun-filled action that is Professional Indoor Football. We promise to provide a family friendly atmosphere that fans of all ages can enjoy. Season tickets start as low as $8 per ticket, with individual tickets going on sale in Mid-January and beginning at $10 per seat. Happy Holidays and God Bless!
