BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh returns to Goodman Stadium for its final home stand of the season as the Mountain Hawks host the Bucknell Bison on Homecoming Saturday afternoon. The Mountain Hawks will play their first official Patriot League game against a Bucknell team that lost its first five games before defeating Georgetown 24-21 last weekend in Washington, D.C. Lehigh enjoyed its largest comeback victory in eight years as the Mountain Hawks erased a 17-point halftime deficit to defeat Harvard 21-19. After a rough first half, Lehigh scored 21 third quarter points including the go-ahead 51-yard touchdown pass from junior Chris Lum to sophomore Ryan Spadola. It was a career day for Spadola, who tied a school record with 14 receptions for 206 yards and two touchdowns.
Spadola's 14 receptions were the second-most in Patriot League history. The New Jersey native leads Lehigh with 34 receptions for 471 yards and three scores this season.
The Mountain Hawks erased a 17-point halftime deficit in its win at Harvard last Saturday. The 17-point deficit was the largest deficit overcome by the Mountain Hawks since Lehigh trailed Princeton 24-7 at halftime on September 21, 2002. That day the Mountain Hawks scored 24 unanswered fourth quarter points to win 31-24. Since the start of the 2001 season Lehigh has come back from deficits of 14 points or more to win on seven occasions, most recently against Villanova on September 9, 2006, which was also Andy Coen's first win as a head coach.
Lehigh holds a commanding lead in the all-time series versus Bucknell, winning 41 of 73 previous meetings. The Brown and White are 17-6-1 versus the Bison since the formation of the Patriot League in 1986. Today, Lehigh and Bucknell meet for the 61st consecutive season. The Mountain Hawks have won the last 12 meetings and have averaged 38 points per game in their last seven wins over Bucknell.
Tickets are still available for the contest and can be purchased in one of three ways: by calling 610-7LU-GAME, by visiting the Lehigh Athletics Ticket Office, located in Grace Hall, or by logging onto Lehighsports.com.
