Pair of Mountain Hawks earn academic honors

To be eligible for the award, individuals must be at least a sophomore, as well as a starter or key reserve on her team with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.20. CoSIDA’s District II consists of schools in
The men’s at-large team consists of student-athletes in fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
A winner of both the Athlete of the Year and Scholar-Athlete awards for the Lehigh swimming and diving program, Flothmeier is a three-time All-Patriot League selection. In 2006, he set a school record in winning the 100 yard breaststroke at the Patriot League championships. The
three-year team captain is the fourth highest point scorer in the Patriot League’s graduating class of 2006.
In the classroom, Flothmeier’s work has been equally impressive. The Maple Glen,
The fifth member of Lehigh’s prestigious “44 Club”, Weiss has been honored as the Lehigh men’s lacrosse Scholar Athlete of the Year Award winner in each of the past two seasons, posting a 3.64 grade point average in mechanical engineering. He is a multi-year member of both the Dean’s List and the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, and was a finalist for the Lehigh Athletics Department Sportsmanship Award this year.
On the field, Weiss ranked 15th in the nation in face-off percentage as a junior, winning 57 percent of his face-offs, and was 23rd this past season, winning 53 percent. For his career, Weiss won over 54 percent of his face-offs and scooped up 202 ground balls. A three-year starter for the Mountain Hawks, Weiss totaled two goals and two assists in 55 career games.
Weiss is the first men’s lacrosse player from Lehigh to earn Academic All-District accolades.
