Bethlehem, PA – Over 825 students and members of the Lehigh community came to Rathbone Hall Wednesday night for the spring 2005 “Breakfast for a Buck” event, sponsored by the award-winning Lehigh Athletics C.O.A.C.H. program, residential services, dining services and the dean of students. 30 volunteers, mostly Lehigh faculty and staff, and members of Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity also volunteered their time to help out for the cause This was the tenth Breakfast for a Buck event, that Lehigh has held, and it keeps growing larger and more successful every time, with over $1500 raised.
Proceeds from the event will go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Some children who have been stricken with the disease call it “65 Roses” because the words are much easier for them to pronounce.
“This is a fantastic program and I really enjoy working with the wonderful student-athletes we have here at Lehigh University,” said David Joseph, director of residential services.
“This is a very special program because it always involves someone with the Lehigh family,” said Mel Lepko, a junior captain on the Lehigh field hockey team and a member of Lehigh’s C.O.A.C.H. program. “This is a great opportunity for the Lehigh student-athletes to be together and represent something bigger than Lehigh University.”
“This event touches people in our family at Lehigh University and it extends beyond that. That is what makes it so special to me,” explained Roseann Corsi, the public relations coordinator for Lehigh. “It just makes you feel good to be part of something like this, everyone is ready for it, the student-athletes really look forward to it and they can’t wait to be part of something so special.”
