Golfers welcome stiff competition to Don Mershon Classic

Bethlehem, PA – The Lehigh men’s and women’s golf teams return to action this weekend, as they host the Don Mershon Classic on Saturday through Monday at Indian Valley Country Club. The event is in its 12th season, and, for the third straight year, the classic will showcase both men’s and women’s teams. “We are thrilled to once again host this tournament,” said Lehigh head coach Kelly Gutshall. “This is a fantastic opportunity for our men’s and women’s teams to play against some top competition, and to be able to host the event on such a marvelous course is truly wonderful.” The tournament features 16 men’s entries and nine women’s squads. The event was named for the late Don Mershon, former Vice President of Lutron Electronics and friend of the Lehigh golf program. Lutron, a corporate partner of Lehigh Athletics, has its worldwide headquarters in nearby Coopersburg. Last year, the Lehigh men's team won the event for the third time, while the Mountain Hawks women finished ninth. Indian Valley Country Club is located in
