Two Mountain Hawk teams headed for the postseason

The volleyball team came into the night tied with Army for third place, and went on the road to defeat the Black Knights 3-0. With a one game lead on them and a tie-breaker by way of a season sweep, Lehigh clinched the third seed in the Patriot League tournament to be held at conference leader American in two weeks. Freshman Michelle Schwendenmann led the way for the Mountain Hawks, recording a career high 21 kills to lead the way.
For the men’s soccer team, the situation was a little more dire. They needed a victory over Navy Saturday night in their last regular season game to make the postseason. The team got off to a horrible start, giving up a goal to the Midshipmen in just the second minute of the game, but perservered to tie it up and take the lead in the first half 2-1. They added an insurance goal late in the game to give them a 3-1 win, their first since October 4th.
The Patriot League men’s soccer tournament begins next Friday at Bucknell, and Lehigh will face the top-seeded Bison in their opening contest. The Mountain Hawks squeezed out a 2-2 tie against them earlier this season.
