Lehigh sits in fourth in Presidents' Cup Standings

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Patriot League released the initial 2009-10 Presidents’ Cup Standings on Monday and Lehigh checked in with 30.25 total points, which places the Mountain Hawks in fourth place overall. The men (16 points) are currently second overall, while the women (14.25 points) sit in fifth place. Bucknell is the current overall leader with 38 points, and is followed by American, Colgate, the Mountain Hawks, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Army and Navy.
On the men’s side, Bucknell totaled 16.5 points throughout the fall to take the early lead. The Bison won the soccer championship and are narrowly in front of the Mountain Hawks (16). Holy Cross is third in the men’s standings with 14 points, followed by American, Colgate, Lafayette, Navy and Army.
In the women’s standings, Bucknell is currently on top with 21.5 points, followed by American, with 20.25 points. Colgate is in third, followed by Army, Lehigh, Navy, Lafayette and Holy Cross.
Presidents’ Cup points are based by a team’s performance in the regular season and postseason. Lehigh has yet to capture the Presidents’ Cup, but the Mountain Hawks have finished second twice.
