Initial Presidents' Cup standings released

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Patriot League released the initial 2008-09 Presidents’ Cup Standings on Monday and Lehigh checked in with 25 total points, which places the Mountain Hawks in seventh place overall. The men (14 points) are currently third overall, while the women (11 points) sit in sixth place. Colgate is the current overall leader with 33.75 points, and is followed by Bucknell, American, Army, Navy, Holy Cross, the Mountain Hawks and Lafayette.
On the men’s side, Colgate totaled 16.75 points throughout the fall to take the early lead. The Raiders won the football and soccer championships and are narrowly in front of Holy Cross (15.5). Lehigh checks in at number-three with 14 points and is followed by American, Bucknell, Lafayette, Army and Navy.
In the women’s standings, Bucknell is currently on top with 22.5 points, followed by American, with 21.75 points. Navy checks in at number-three, followed by Army, Colgate, the Brown and White, Holy Cross and Lafayette.
Presidents’ Cup points are based by a team’s performance in the regular season and postseason. Lehigh has yet to capture the Presidents’ Cup, but the Mountain Hawks have finished second twice.
