Greetings and welcome to a new era of women's volleyball at Lehigh University. As the new head coach for the women's volleyball team, it is with great pride and admiration that I present the new face and tradition within our program. This year has seen many changes, not only in the coaching staff, but also with the members of our team. Entering into the 2004-05 season, there were many expectations for our program to not only record a winning season, but return to the Patriot League Tournament for the 15th time. I am sorry to say that although that goal was not realized by our team, we have built a new foundation for the program. I know with hard work, determination, and passion the team will surpass that goal and reach even higher. We will become the new face of the Patriot League and will accomplish our goal of reaching the NCAA Tournament. Coming into the 2004 season, our team was comprised of five freshman, five returning players and two transfer students. Our preseason was filled with adversity; we experienced injuries to key players, which forced many of our athletes to play a variety of positions on the court. However, even with our lack of depth on the bench and the numerous injuries, the young ladies of Lehigh were impressively competitive and fought hard throughout the season. We experienced victories over Columbia and Colgate and throughout the year in league competitions we were consistently on the verge of victory with all of our conference opponents The ladies worked very hard during the year and I was very impressed with their character and integrity in overcoming the many trials that occur in a transition year. As I look ahead to the upcoming season, we are looking to bring in four or five new top level athletes to our program. I have expanded our schedule to include some national competition that will help prepare us as we strive to return to the Patriot League tournament and win. One of the priorities that I have listed in my goals for 2004-05 is that of expanding the role of alumnae within the volleyball program. I would like to thank the alumnae for their past generosity and financial support of the volleyball program and Athletics Partnership. It is very heartwarming to know that former players are supportive in a meaningful way that benefits all of our current student athletes and coaches. The future includes an alumnae match that will provide an opportunity for me to meet many of Lehigh's faithful and devoted volleyball alumni. In my short period of time at Lehigh, I have been most impressed with the loyalty and support that all of our athletic teams have received from the alumni. I hope that the new era of women's volleyball here at Lehigh will make a positive impression on you as alumnae and each and every one of you will pay a visit to Grace Hall to watch us win the Patriot League title! Best wishes for a happy and joyous holiday season! Amanda Moran
