Eng named to NFHCA All-Region second team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh freshman forward Kim Eng was named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Mideast Region second team it was announced on Thursday. Eng was recently named the Patriot League’s Rookie of the Year after leading the league in goals and points during the regular season. She becomes the third Mountain Hawk to earn All-Region honors under head coach Julie Mazer, joining Christy Smith (2006, 2007) and Blaire Goodwin (2003).

 

As a freshman, Eng put together one of the finest offensive single-seasons in school annals. The Morristown, N.J. native started all 17 games on Lehigh’s forward line, tallying a league-best 13 goals and 34 points while also ranking among the league leaders with eight assists.

 

Eng also scored the game-winning goal in four of the Mountain Hawks six victories this season. She netted her first career hat-trick in a key 3-2 win over Holy Cross on October 24, a win that helped Lehigh reach the Patriot League tournament. Eng also netted game-winning goals versus Georgetown, Saint Francis and Siena.

 

In addition to her Patriot League Rookie of the Year honor, Eng was a first team All-Patriot League selection and was a three time Rookie of the Week honoree along with a one-time Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week.

 

Eng and the Mountain Hawks finished the regular season at 6-11 and qualified for the Patriot League tournament for the fourth time in the last six seasons.
