BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The 145th edition of college football's most played rivalry comes to Goodman Stadium Saturday afternoon as Lehigh plays host to its archrival, No. 21/22 Lafayette. The Mountain Hawks are looking to end a frustrating season on a high note and defeat the Leopards for the second consecutive year while Lafayette looks to keep its hopes alive for an at-large bid to the FCS playoffs. Lehigh downed Fordham last weekend in the Bronx 35-28 behind a five touchdown performance (four passing, one rush) by JB Clark while the Leopards are trying to bounce back after suffering a tough setback versus nationally ranked Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Sophomore De'Vaughn Gordon hauled in a career-best three touchdown passes last week at Fordham. The New Jersey native caught scoring receptions of 7, 39 and 22 yards to become the first Mountain Hawk since Adam Bergen in 2003 to catch three touchdowns in a single game. Gordon now has four touchdowns on the season.
Lehigh has had a large number of first year student-athletes make an impact this season, with ten true freshmen having seen time. That ranks sixth among the national leaders in FCS. Presbyterian has used an FCS-high 17 true freshmen, followed by Portland State (15), Northwestern State (14), Indiana State (13), Western Carolina (11), and Wofford and Lehigh with ten each.
Saturday's game will kick-off at 12:37 from Goodman Stadium. The contest is sold out but will be shown live on WFMZ-TV, FCS-Central and Lehighsports.com with Steve Degler and Mike Yadush '93 on the call. ESPN Radio 1230 and 1320 will broadcast the game over the airwaves with Matt Kerr, Kody Fedorcha '00 and ESPN Radio's Matt Markus and Tom Fallon providing the commentary.
Additional broadcast information on the game will available later this week on Lehighsports.com.
