BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the third time in four weeks, Lehigh freshman forward Kim Eng has been named Patriot League Rookie of the Week, it was announced on Monday. Eng continued the fast start to her college career tallying four points in each of Lehigh’s two games last weekend as the Mountain Hawks picked up two victories, including a 4-1 win over Colgate in their Patriot League opener.

Eng began the week by scoring two goals in Lehigh’s 3-2 non-league win over Siena on Tuesday. The Morristown, N.J. native put Lehigh in front 1-0 with a drive off a penalty corner, and later tacked on a second goal on a breakaway that gave the Mountain Hawks a 3-0 lead.

Saturday against Colgate, Eng put the Mountain Hawks up 3-0 with her eighth goal of the season, and also contributed two assists; the first a centering pass to senior Morgan Christopher who scored Lehigh’s second goal, and the second a drive off a penalty corner that was deflected into the cage by senior Lindsey Smith. She finished the weekend with 21 total shots including 15 shots on goal.

For the season, Eng leads the Patriot League in scoring with 21 points and is tied for the league lead in goals (eight) and assists (five). Eng also leads the league in all per-game scoring categories and she has scored the game-winning goal in three of the Mountain Hawks four victories.

Also on Monday, junior back Taryn Hartzell received an honorable mention from the league. Hartzell anchored the Mountain Hawks defensive efforts in last week’s two victories and also converted a penalty stroke for the game-winning goal in Saturday’s win over Colgate.

The Mountain Hawks (4-5) will return to the turf on Wednesday when they continue their long home stand against Villanova. Game time is set for 7 p.m. from Ulrich Field and all the action can be seen online at Lehighsports.com.
