BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following a career day in Lehigh’s win over Bucknell this past weekend, freshman Zach Barket was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, it was announced on Monday.  Barket rushed for a career-best 77 yards on 21 carries in the Mountain Hawks’ 35-16 victory, and also added his first career touchdown.  This marks the third consecutive week in which a Lehigh player earned Rookie of the Week accolades after Mike Colvin was honored the past two weeks.

Barket, who earned his first career start last weekend, contributed to a solid Lehigh ground game on Saturday as he accounted for 77 of the Mountain Hawks’ 134 rush yards.  The Pennsylvania native scored his first collegiate touchdown in the third quarter of the contest as Lehigh pulled away to defeat Bucknell for the 12th consecutive time.  Barket also caught one pass for six yards and averaged 3.7 yards on his 21 carries.  For the year Barket has rushed the ball 31 times for 124 yards, good for an average of 4.0 per carry.

Barket and Lehigh head to Hamilton, New York this Saturday for a crucial showdown with the nationally ranked Colgate Raiders.  Kick-off from Andy Kerr Stadium is slated for just after 1:00 and the game will be shown live on WFMZ-TV, Fox College Sports Atlantic and Lehighsports.com with Steve Degler and Mike Yadush ’93 on the call.  The game will also be broadcast live on ESPN Radio 1230 and 1320 AM with Marr Kerr, Kody Fedorcha ’00 and ESPN Radio’s Matt Markus on the call.  Pre-game coverage gets underway at noon.
