BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh returns home on Saturday for the first time since October 11 to welcome the first place Colgate Raiders to Goodman Stadium on Family Weekend. The Mountain Hawks shook off a slow start to down Georgetown 33-13 last weekend on the road, in a game in which the Lehigh “D” did not allow a single point following the first quarter. No. 24 Colgate enters this weekend as the hottest team in the Patriot League, having won six straight games, including all three of its league contests. Freshman Nate Eachus has been on a tear the last three weeks, rushing for 629 yards and eight touchdowns subbing in for All-American Jordan Scott, who has been sidelined due to injury.
Lehigh junior linebacker Troy Taylor, who registered his first sack at Harvard, has totaled 26 tackles this season. Of those 26 tackles, 13 have come on special teams coverage, the most of any Mountain Hawk.
The Patriot League’s hottest team rolls into Bethlehem on Saturday seeking its seventh consecutive victory. Colgate, which entered the Sports Network top-25 poll on Monday, opened the year with a trio of tough games, and won just once, but that seemed to prepare the Raiders for the rigors of Patriot League play. Behind a talented offensive line and the nearly unstoppable running of All-American Jordan Scott and freshman standout Nate Eachus, the Raiders are third in America in rushing offense, 12th in total offense, 35th in scoring offense, and have not scored less than 21 points in any game this season. On defense, Greg Hadley leads the Raiders with 55 tackles, while another freshman, linebacker Mike Carbone, is second with 51 stops.
Saturday’s game kicks off at 12:30 from Goodman Stadium. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling 610-7LU-GAME, by visiting the Lehigh Athletics Ticket Office, located in Grace Hall, or by logging onto Lehighsports.com.
Fans that cannot make it out to Goodman Stadium on Saturday can watch the game live on Service Electric 2 Sports, Fox College Sports Pacific or Lehighsports.com with Steve Degler, Mike Yadush ’93 and Al DiCarlo calling the action. The game will also be broadcast live on ESPN Radio 1230 and 1320 AM with Matt Kerr, Kody Fedorcha ’00 and Matt Markus providing the commentary.
