BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Junior Zahir Carrington was named the Patriot League Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday.  Carrington netted a team-high 21 points in the Mountain Hawks season opening 79-62 victory over Saint Peter’s this past weekend.  The Philadelphia native added five boards, a career-high four steals and one block in helping lead the Brown and White to its first road opening victory since 1998.  This is Carrington’s first career Player of the Week honor.

Carrington sank eight-of-14 shots versus the Peacocks and hit five-of-his six free throw attempts.  He was one of four Mountain Hawks that hit for double figures, as he led Lehigh in scoring for the eighth time in his career.  Carrington’s 21 points was his third career game of 20+ points.

Carrington and his teammates return to action on Monday evening when the Mountain Hawks open up their home schedule versus the Hornets of Delaware State at Stabler Arena.  Tip-off is set for 7:05 and all of the action can be heard live on ESPN Radio 1230 and 1320 beginning at 6:30 with veteran Matt Kerr and Lehigh Hall of Famer Greg Falkenbach ’72.
