BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Fresh off their first road opening victory since 1998, the Mountain Hawks open the home portion of their schedule on Monday evening as they welcome Delaware State to town.  Lehigh used a well-balanced and hot shooting offense to down Saint Peter’s on Saturday 79-62 in New Jersey.  Led by juniors Zahir Carrington (21) and Marquis Hall (20), the Mountain Hawks were able to down the Peacocks for the second consecutive year and win their first non-league road game since November of 2007.  Delaware State enters Monday’s game having played a pair of games over the weekend.  The Hornets downed Wilmington University on Friday before dropping a 67-64 decision to Cheyney University on Saturday.

The Mountain Hawks are shooting for their third straight home opening victory this evening, which would be the first time since the 1997-98 through 1999-00 seasons.  Two years ago Lehigh raced past Cornell 90-71 behind 58 points from Jose Olivero, Jason Mgebroff and Kyle Neptune, while last season Marquis Hall scored seven points in the closing minutes to lift the Brown and White past Saint Peter’s 60-56.

The last time Lehigh met a school from the Mid-Eastern Atlantic Conference (MEAC) was in 2005 when the Mountain Hawks took on the Coppin State Eagles in the consolation round of the BCA Invitational in Laramie, Wyoming.  Lehigh won that game on a last second three-pointer by Jose Olivero, 65-64.  Lehigh has played only four schools from the MEAC all-time, including Coppin State, Florida A&M, Delaware State and Howard.

Lehigh and Delaware State will tip things off just after 7:00 on Monday evening from Stabler Arena.  Plenty of tickets remain and can be purchased by calling 610-7LU-GAME, by visiting the Lehigh Athletics Ticket Office, located in Grace Hall, or by logging onto Lehighsports.com.
