Lehigh wraps up road trip at Georgetown

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh concludes its three-game road trip on Saturday afternoon in the nation’s capital as the Mountain Hawks take on the Georgetown Hoyas at Multi-Sport Field.  Lehigh is looking to bounce back from last week’s 35-21 setback at Holy Cross in which senior captain Matt McGowan churned out 244 yards of total offense and scored two touchdowns, but an early 21-0 hole proved too much to overcome for the Brown and White.  The Hoyas enter this weekend having lost their last six games, including a 48-0 shutout at the hands of national power Richmond last week in Virginia.  Georgetown has not won a Patriot League game since defeating Bucknell 20-17 on October 20, 2007.

Georgetown looks for its first win since the opening week of the season on Saturday afternoon.  The Hoyas knocked off Howard that day 12-7, but have struggled mightily since, losing six straight games.  Georgetown is last in the Patriot League in scoring offense, scoring defense, passing offense, rushing offense, and total offense.  The Hoyas have scored only nine touchdowns this season, three of which came versus Bucknell.  Keerome Lawrence is Georgetown’s leading rusher and second leading passer with 320 yards on the ground, 256 through the air and four total touchdowns.  Travis Mack is the team’s leading tackler with 48 stops, while Ataefiok Etukeren has made nine tackles-for-loss, including a team leading four-and-a-half sacks.

Senior safety Quadir Carter had a career day at Holy Cross.  The Bethlehem native totaled a career-best 13 total tackles, including nine solo stops.  It was his fourth double digit tackle effort this season.  Carter also picked off a pair of passes, giving him three for his career at Fitton Field.  Carter is the first Mountain Hawk since Brannan Thomas to pick off two passes in a game.  Thomas did it versus Harvard on September 29, 2007.  For his efforts, Carter was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Saturday’s game kicks off at 1:00 from Multi-Sport Field in Washington, D.C.  The game will be broadcast live on ESPN Radio 1230 and 1320 AM as well as Lehighsports.com with Matt Kerr, Kody Fedorcha ’00 and Matt Markus on the call.  Pre-game coverage gets underway at noon.  There is no television coverage for this game.
