Lehigh wraps up fall season at Kelly Gutshall Invite

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh wrapped up its fall season this weekend as the Mountain Hawks hosted the Kelly Gutshall Invitational at Saucon Valley Country Club on the Weyhill Course.  Lehigh finished seventh in the eight-team tournament with a two-round score of 639 (326, 313), while Penn State won the team crown with a score of 592 (299, 293).  Siena finished second with a 624 (325, 299), and the Saints were followed by Harvard (320, 306 – 626), Delaware (319, 314 = 633), Birmingham Southern (315, 319 = 634), Bucknell (334, 304 = 638), Lehigh and Colgate (337, 308 = 645).

Lehigh’s top finisher this weekend was junior Steve Suarez who shot a 157 (78, 79) and finished in 14th place.  Other Mountain Hawks that competed include Will Robinson who shot a 160 (84, 76) and finished in a tie for 24th place, Dough Marcincin, who shot a 162 (83, 79) and tied for 28th place, Dwight Diorio who tied for 30th place after shooting a 163 (81, 82) and Shane Gilroy who shot a 168 (89, 79) and tied for 37th place.  Dylan Evans (77, 78 = 155) and Tim Rosenhouse (80, 78 = 158) also competed for Lehigh.

Penn State took the top two spots individually as Kevin Foley was the top finisher after shooting a 140 (70, 70) and T.J. Howe shot a 143 (74, 69) to finish second.

Lehigh will return to the links when the Mountain Hawks open their spring season on March 13 when they travel to Savannah, Georgia to compete in the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational.
