PRINCETON, N.J. – In its final non-league match of the regular season, Lehigh fell to Princeton 1-0 Wednesday evening at Roberts Stadium. Katie Bartholomew scored the game’s lone goal for the Tigers in the first half, as Princeton extended its unbeaten streak to nine straight games. The Tigers are now 8-1-2 overall, while Lehigh suffered its fourth straight setback and falls to 4-8-1.

With a key rivalry match-up with Lafayette looming on Saturday, Lehigh head coach Manny Oudin dug deep into his bench, as 20 different Mountain Hawks saw action on the evening.

It took the Tigers just 14 minutes to jump in front, as Kalie Bartholomew netted her third goal of the season on a shot from the right side of the box, ten yards from goal. Lauren Whatley assisted on the play, and Princeton carried a 1-0 lead into halftime.

In the second half Princeton dominated the statistics, but the Lehigh defense prevented any further damage. The Tigers outshot the Mountain Hawks 13-0 in the second half and 21-4 for the contest. Princeton also enjoyed a 9-3 edge in corners, including a 7-0 advantage in the final 45 minutes.

Senior Julie Kafka saw her first action of the season in goal, making three saves in 45 minutes of action, before giving way to junior Natalie Krane, who made a career-high five saves while manning the goal in the second half for the Brown and White.

Princeton’s Sarah Peteraf led all players with five shots in the contest. Lehigh’s four shots were credited to senior Hailey Coonrad, and freshmen Ali MacLeod, Megan Cain and Jana Basubas.

Alyssa Pont made three saves for the Tigers, who increased their shutout streak to 690 minutes. Princeton is now 12-0 all time versus Lehigh in women’s soccer.

The Mountain Hawks return to the pitch on Saturday when they wrap-up their four game road trip against arch rival Lafayette. Game time is set for 7 p.m. from Mike Bourger Field at Oaks Stadium.
