10/12/2008 12:00:00 AM | Women's Soccer

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Carissa Youker scored 12 minutes into the game and Brittany White tacked on an insurance goal in the second half as Navy downed Lehigh 2-0 Sunday at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility. The Mountain Hawks knew they had their hands full with the defending Patriot League champions, but were kept off the scoreboard for the third straight game, as they fall to 0-3 in the Patriot League and 4-7-1 overall.

Youker’s 15-yard shot beat Lehigh sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Mains to the left post for her seventh goal of the season. Christine Calderon assisted on the goal for the Midshipmen, who led 1-0 at halftime despite Lehigh’s 9-7 advantage in shots.

In the second half, Lehigh continued to press for a tying goal, but Kristen Laraway sprung Brittany White on a one-versus-one opportunity with Mains, which White converted for her fourth goal of the season in the 64th minute.

Lehigh finished with a 13-11 advantage in shots, with junior Liz Carlos and freshman Jana Basubas leading the way with three apiece. Lizzie Barnes, the league’s leader in goals-against average made seven saves to earn the shutout. Mains finished with four stops for the Mountain Hawks.

Navy has now won six straight games, as the Mids improve to 11-3-1 overall and 3-0 in league games.

The Mountain Hawks continue their four game road trip on Wednesday when they travel to Princeton. Game time is set for 5 p.m. from Roberts Stadium.
