Lehigh meets Harvard on Community Day

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh closes out the month of September on Saturday afternoon as the Mountain Hawks host Harvard on Community Day at Goodman Stadium.  Lehigh, which is searching for its third straight win, rolled over VMI last weekend at home by a score of 37-6 in a game in which the Mountain Hawks racked up nearly 450 total yards of offense and led 31-0 at intermission.  Harvard meanwhile, comes to Bethlehem looking to build on the momentum of its first win of the season last weekend at home against Brown.  The Crimson offense totaled 414 yards of its own en route to the 24-17 victory in Cambridge.

Following a week one last second setback to Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, Harvard bounced back last week with a 24-17 victory over Brown in the first night game in the 104-year history of Harvard Stadium.  The Crimson, who have lost three of their last four road games, feature a high-powered offense which averages 428 yards and 26 points per game.  Clifton Dawson, the all-time leading rusher in Ivy League history, is gone from the Harvard backfield, but quarterback Liam O’Hagan has helped to pick up the slack, throwing for over 460 yards in two games this season.  On defense, Harvard is surrendering nearly 300 passing yards per game, but the Crimson rush defense is 24th in the country, allowing just over 100 yards per game.

Expect to see a high-scoring affair Saturday afternoon featuring lots of offense as these two teams come in averaging 816.3 total yards of offense and 55.7 points per game between them.  In the last four meetings between Lehigh and Harvard, the average score has been 41-27 in favor of the Mountain Hawks with both teams scoring at least 24 points in three of those meetings.
