Kankam earns second Rookie of the Week nod

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the second time this season, freshman running back Kwesi Kankam has been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week.  Kankam rushed for 66 yards and one touchdown and added two receptions for 22 yards in the Mountain Hawks 37-6 victory over VMI this past Saturday afternoon.  Kankam becomes the first player in the Patriot League to win two Rookie of the Week honors this season. 

 

Kankam led the Mountain Hawks in rushing for the second straight game against the Keydets as he rushed for 66 yards, including a nifty 13-yard scoring scamper in the second quarter.  The Ohio native also hauled in two catches for 22 yards, giving him 88 total yards on the afternoon.

 

On the season, Kankam has rushed for a team-leading 173 yards on 51 carries to go along with a team-best three touchdowns.  The business major has also caught six passes out of the backfield for 53 yards.

 

Kankam and the rest of the Mountain Hawks return to action on Saturday afternoon when they host the Crimson of Harvard on Community Day at Goodman Stadium.  Kick off is set for just after 1:00 and tickets can be purchased in one of three ways: by calling 610-7LU-GAME, by visiting the Lehigh Athletics Ticket Office located in Grace Hall or by logging onto Lehighsports.com at anytime.
