Lehigh's unbeaten streak ends in loss to La Salle

The scoring was fast paced early on, as Hextall gave the Explorers the lead just 37 seconds into the contest, heading in a pass from Jenna Guagenti. The Mountain Hawks did not have to wait long to answer, however. A La Salle foul inside the 18-yard box gave Lehigh a penalty kick, and sophomore Liz Carlos stepped up and beat Amy Grant for her third goal of the season, which tied the game just 1:02 later.
Lehigh pressed for chances in the second half, but it was the Explorers adding an insurance goal in the 74th minute as Hextall scored with assists from Melanie Gamble and Heatherrae Steadman.
“We responded well from the first goal, “said Lehigh head coach Manny Oudin. “We knew they were dangerous on re-starts, and our lack of reaction off restarts cost us. I’m happy with the second half, we kept going forward and had some opportunities, but we were unlucky with some of those chances.”
The Explorers held a 13-11 advantage in shots and a 4-0 advantage on corner kicks. Junior Julie Kafka made four saves in the first half for Lehigh, before giving way to Lauren Mains, who finished with a pair of saves. Grant made five saves to earn the win for
