WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Lehigh took to the road for the first time in 2007, but the Mountain Hawks were unable to muster their first win of the season. Senior Sara Conrad netted a hat-trick to lead West Chester to a 3-2 win over Lehigh Sunday afternoon at South Campus Turf Field. The setback drops Lehigh to 0-3 on the season, while the Golden Rams improve to 2-1.

West Chester raced to a 3-0 lead before the Mountain Hawks mounted a late comeback with a pair of late goals. Conrad scored an unassisted goal in the 22nd minute to open the scoring.

In the second half, Conrad added tallies in the 48th and 52nd minutes to extend the lead to 3-0.

Lehigh finally got on the scoreboard with just over five minutes to play, as senior Lauren Volpe converted a penalty stroke to make it 3-1. Sophomore Lindsey Smith added an unassisted goal in the final seconds to close out the scoring.

Each team mustered 14 shots on the afternoon while the Mountain Hawks held a 4-3 advantage in penalty corners. Freshman Jess Miller made six saves on the afternoon for Lehigh, before giving way to classmate Lilia Stefaniwsky, who played the final 14 minutes and did not make save.

The Mountain Hawks will return to the turf in search of their first win on Wednesday, when they travel to Fairfield. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
