Kylee Martin got the scoring started for Fairfield at the 25:45 mark to put the visitors up 1-0 early, but Lehigh scored the game’s next three goals, including two from MacIntyre and one from Carmola, to go in front 3-1 with 16:31 left in the opening half. Following a score by the Stags to make it a one-goal game, Pharaon netted her first score of the day at the 12:55 mark and Lehigh was back in front by two, at 4-2. Martin then brought the visitors to within one, but Pharaon and MacIntyre netted back-to-back goals to close out the half and sent Lehigh into the break ahead 6-3.
In the second half, sophomore Kyle Roth and junior Christy Smith scored back-to-back goals of their own and Lehigh was rolling, ahead 8-3 with 25:56 remaining in the game.
The Stags again came back however, and scored three straight to close within one score at the 7:12 mark. Carmola then gave the Mountain Hawks some breathing room when she scored what proved to be the game-winner with 3:47 to go off of a feed from Christy Smith on an isolation play. Lara Hannigan made the score 11-10 with just over a minute-and-a-half left, but freshman Kelsy Ferris made sure that was as close as Fairfield would get as she stuffed a free position attempt by the Stags and helped Lehigh snap its four-game slide.
Ferris had a very solid day in goal for the Brown and White, sending back 15
Lehigh returns to action on Saturday when the Mountain Hawks open up Patriot League play versus the Bucknell Bison. Game time is set for 1:00 at the Ulrich Sports Complex and all of the action can be seen and heard live on lehighsports.com.
