LEWISBURG,
The Bison capitalized on an early goal by Connor O’Brien in the second minute. O’Brien was able to get free in the box and Justin Wolf fed him with a nice feed to beat freshmen goalkeeper Jonathon Nydell.
Kyle Evans had a chance to tie the game up in the ninth minute, when he slipped by a Bucknell defender; however, his shot sailed just wide left.
Lehigh had another excellent chance to tie the game in 33rd minute. Jesse Schram was given a free kick ten yards outside the box and he caught the Bison off-guard with a quick pass to Jim Taranto, who made another quick pass to Evans. Evans found himself all alone in front of the Bucknell goal; however, Joey Kuterbach made a diving stop but was unable to control the rebound, and the Mountain Hawks had a shot at a wide open net, but Kuterbach made another great stop and knocked the ball to put an end to the threat.
Kuterbach came up with another save for the Bison in the 41st minute as jumped to make a leaping stop on an Evans header.
Lehigh headed into the half trailing 1-0, but out shot the Bison 8-2. Kuterbach made three saves to keep Bucknell in the lead, while Nydell made one save for the Mountain Hawks.
Bucknell started the second half much the same as the first, with a quick score to give the Bison a 2-0 lead. Alex Russo scored the goal in the 49th minute, with Wolf picking up his second assist of the game.
The Bison put the game away in the 62nd minute with a goal by Ross Liberati. O’Brien picked up the assist when his free kick was headed in by Liberati past Nydell to give Bucknell a 3-0 lead.
Lehigh would add a late goal in the 88th minute to cut the deficit to 3-1. Patrick Cucci put home his third goal of the season, picking up the rebound off a James Graf shot.
