Lehigh heads to Hamilton to face Colgate

Lehigh looks for two in a row on Saturday afternoon as the Mountain Hawks head to Hamilton, New York looking to spoil the Patriot League title hopes of the Colgate Raiders.  Lehigh is coming off a convincing 45-0 win over Georgetown last weekend at home; the program’s first shutout since 2002, and will be looking to defeat the Raiders for the fourth straight time overall and second straight time in Hamilton.  Colgate enters this weekend riding a two-game winning streak which includes a come-from-behind victory against Lafayette last weekend in Easton to propel the Raiders right into the thick of the Patriot League championship race.

With two straight wins in Patriot League play, the Raiders have once again put themselves in position to challenge for the league’s regular season crown.  Colgate features a balanced offense led by the running of one of the best tailbacks in the country, junior Jordan Scott.  Scott has already rushed for the most yards by a junior in Colgate history with 3,973 and is coming off a career-best four-touchdown performance in last week’s win over Lafayette.  Scott isn’t alone on “O” however, as quarterback Alex Relph has completed 58 percent of his passes for 1,546 yards and nine touchdowns, and All-Patriot Leage wide receiver Eric Burke has hauled in a team-best 45 receptions for 687 yards and six touchdowns.  On defense, the Raiders are led by All-American linebacker Mike Gallihugh, who leads the team with 92 total tackles.

Lehigh’s 307 rushing yards against Georgetown were its most since a win over the Hoyas in 2005 when the Mountain Hawks racked up 332 yards on the ground.  The 58 rush attempts were the most since November 2, 2002 when the Brown and White ran the ball 60 times in an overtime win at Fordham.  Over the course of the past two games, Lehigh is averaging 231 rushing yards on 48.5 attempts per game.

Saturday’s game kicks off at 12:30 from Andy Kerr Stadium in Hamilton.  The contest will be televised live on WFMZ-TV as well as Fox College Sports Pacific with Steve Degler, Mike Yadush ’93 and Mike Perlow on the call.  The game will also be shown live on Lehighsports.com.  In addition, the game will be broadcast live on ESPN Radio 1230 and 1320 with Matt Kerr, Kody Fedorcha ’00 and Matt Markus.
