Lehigh looks to snap skid versus Georgetown

10/23/2007 12:00:00 AM | Football

Lehigh welcomes Georgetown to Goodman Stadium on Saturday afternoon on Family Weekend as the Mountain Hawks look to snap their first three-game losing streak since 1997 and register their first league victory this season.  Lehigh fell to the high-powered Holy Cross Crusaders last weekend at home and will be searching for its seventh straight win over the Hoyas.  Georgetown meanwhile comes into Saturday’s contest fresh off of its first win of the season last weekend in Lewisburg against Bucknell.  The Hoyas received a game-winning 38-yard field goal by Eric Bjonerud with ten seconds left on the clock to pick up their first win since November 4, 2006.

Following a dramatic last-second victory over Bucknell last weekend in Lewisburg, Georgetown looks for two straight against Lehigh.  The Hoyas have not won back-to-back games since October of 2003 when they won three consecutive contests.  On offense, Georgetown is led by senior quarterback Matt Bassuener who has completed over 68 percent of his passes this season for 1,482 yards and seven TD.  The Hoyas have done a nice job this season in the red zone, scoring on 16 of 18 opportunities (89%), including 14 touchdowns.  On defense, Chris Rau has racked up a team-best 59 tackles.

Lehigh’s 155 rushing yards against Holy Cross were its most since the win over Princeton when the Mountain Hawks ran the ball for 164 yards.  The 39 rush attempts versus the Crusaders were also the most since Lehigh ran it 56 times against the Tigers.
