BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Mountain Hawks will look to stop a four game slide and build momentum heading into this weekend’s Patriot League opener as Lehigh welcomes West Chester to the Ulrich Sports Complex Thursday evening.. Lehigh is looking to bounce back from a 9-2 defeat at No. 18 Villanova last Sunday down the Main Line. Thursday night’s game features the fourth career match-up between Lehigh head coach Julie Mazer and her alma mater.

For Lehigh, junior Terry Mongan and sophomore Kalynn Davies both netted their first career goals in Sunday’s loss at Villanova. Sophomore Kara Zweizig continues to pace the Mountain Hawks attack with three goals this season. Junior Christy Smith and freshman Kelly Fox have scored two apiece.  Junior Marny Hearn leads the team with three assists, while senior Goalkeeper Stephanie Palmieri has been solid in the cage, stopping over seven shots per game.

The Golden Rams of West Chester come to Bethlehem with a 2-8 record. WCU snapped an eight game losing streak on Sunday when they defeated Patriot League member Colgate 2-0 up in Hamilton, N.Y. Junior Shelly Brooks leads the Golden Rams with six goals and 13 points this season. Three different goalkeepers have seen time in the cage for West Chester. Freshman Joelle Zarefoss has a team-low 2.65 goals-against average.

West Chester leads the all-time series 17-7 with one tie. The Golden Rams won last year’s meeting at home 3-1, but Mazer is 2-1 lifetime versus her alma mater.

Thursday night’s game gets underway at 7:00 pm from the Ulrich Sports Complex. This weekend Lehigh will open Patriot League play on the road Saturday afternoon against Bucknell.
