VILLANOVA, Pa. – Lehigh knew it had its hands full against a Villanova team ranked 18th in the nation, and the Wildcats exploded for seven first half goals and went on to defeat the Mountain Hawks 9-2 Sunday afternoon at Villanova Stadium. Villanova senior Megan Foster scored five goals and handed out an assist to help hand the Mountain Hawks their fourth straight loss, dropping Lehigh to 2-6 on the season. The Wildcats improve to 8-3 with the win.

Foster put Villanova ahead with a goal off of a penalty corner in the fifth minute and added three more in the opening half. Allison Boris added two-first half goals for the Wildcats, who out shot Lehigh 11-4 in the first half.

After Foster’s fifth goal made it 8-0 early in the second half, the Mountain Hawks finally broke through in the 45th minute, as freshman Kelly Fox found sophomore Kalynn Davies, who beat Alex Whalen for her first goal of the season.

The Brown and White closed out the scoring off of a penalty corner in the 52nd minute with junior Terry Mongan finding the back of the cage for the first time in 2006. Junior Marny Hearn and senior Mel Lepko were credited with assists on the play.

Villanova out shot Lehigh 18-11 on the afternoon and had eight corners to five for the Mountain Hawks. Lehigh senior goalkeeper Stephanie Palmieri was credited with five saves.

The Mountain Hawks will be back in action on Thursday, when they welcome the Golden Rams of West Chester to the Ulrich Sports Complex. Game time is set for 7:00 pm.
