Princeton hands Lehigh 5-0 loss on Tuesday

PRINCETON, N.J. – Lehigh’s four match road trip began on a rough note Tuesday evening as the Mountain Hawks were shut out by a tough Princeton side 5-0 at Lourie-Love Field. The Tigers took an early lead on a penalty-kick goal and then exploded for four goals in the second half, in handing Lehigh its worst loss since a 5-0 loss to Holy Cross in 2001. The Mountain Hawks drop to 3-5 with the loss, while the Tigers now stand at 3-2-1.
The Tigers took a 1-0 lead after being awarded a penalty kick, which Diana Matheson converted in the 14th minute. The Mountain Hawks hung tight for the remainder of the half, and came close on their lone shot attempt as sophomore Hailey Coonrad hit the post.

The Mountain Hawks were out-shot 14-2 on the night. Coonrad’s first half attempt caught the post, while junior Jen Fetsick had a second half attempt stopped by Maren Dale. Tuesday night’s game marked the first time this season the Brown and White failed to score a goal.
