Mountain Hawks take fifth at Hartford Invitational

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Lehigh sophomore Yvonne Kukora shot a 166 over two days to lead the Mountain Hawks at the Hartford Women’s Invitational, held at the par 73 Wampanoag Country Club on Monday and Tuesday. The Mountain Hawks shot a 703 as a team to finish fifth in the 12-team event. Saint John’s posted a total of 640 to win the invitational, as the Red Storm finished 26 strokes better than second place Boston College.

Saint John’s Christin Thomson shot a nine-over par 155 to capture medalist honors.

For Lehigh, Kukora paced her squad and earned a top ten finish. Kukora’s 166 was good for an eighth place tie individually overall. After shooting an 85 on Monday, Kukora shaved four strokes off her 18-hole total Tuesday for an 81. She was one of two Lehigh competitors to finish in the overall top 20.

Elsewhere for the Mountain Hawks, Allison Juster scored in the top 20 with a 170 (85-85). Juster finished tied for 13th. Alison Webb (86-87-173), Tiina Olsson (95-103-198), and Caitlin Colvin (107-99-206) also took part in the tournament.

Lehigh returns to the links on Monday, when the Mountain Hawks visit rival Lafayette.
