Lehigh snaps skid with dominant win over 'Gate

Lehigh connected on a season-high 47.5% from the field on Wednesday, including a blistering 57 percent in the second half. Callan sank 13 of 20 field goals, while Geosits sank six of eight field goals, including four of six from beyond the arc. Callan added ten boards in the victory and junior Adrienne Blount ripped down 13 to go with six points. The Brown and White handed out 22 assists on 29 field goals and forced the Raiders into 15 turnovers.
Colgate was led on offense by Melanie Cargle with 15 points, while Megan Ballard scored 11. The Raiders hit on 31 percent of their field goal attempts, and just 23.5 percent from beyond the arc (4-17). Devon Warwick recorded ten rebounds for Colgate, while freshman Gretchen Polinski also added ten caroms.
The Mountain Hawks raced out to a 7-0 lead, but Colgate quickly responded with a 6-0 run of its own to pull within one at the 14:57 mark of the opening half. Lehigh would up its lead to six with 10:49 left in the opening half on a lay up by Blount, and again on another lay up by Callan with 9:43 remaining. The score remained tight throughout the remainder of the opening half, with the Mountain Hawks heading to the locker room ahead 33-29 on the strength of a short jumper by Sara Ellis with just five ticks remaining.
In the second half, Lehigh simply took over, seeing its lead increase to ten with 14:40 to go on a lay up by Tricia Smith, and then to 13 on a three by Geosits with 14:22 to go. After Callan scored on yet another lay up with 10:23 to go, the Brown and White was in front by 16. A three-point play by Callan with 2:20 to increased the lead to 22, the largest of the evening at 71-49 and from there, the Mountain Hawks sailed to the easy victory.
