Men win big, women fall short against Lafayette

Junior Jonathan Kearney and sophomore Dan Johnson paced the men’s attack winning three individual events apiece.
Senior co-captain Tom Gilbert set a pool record in winning the 100 back in 54.03 and added a win in the 200 back as well. Freshman Kevin McGrath won the 200 breast in 2:11.12, while junior Clark Cohen swept the one and three meter dives.
On the women’s side, Melanie and Alison Rolish accounted for five individual wins for the Brown and White. Alison, a freshman, had her most impressive swim in the 1000 free with a time of 10:23.71. She also won the 500 free in 5:09.25. Her older sister Melanie, a sophomore, won swept the 100 and 200 breaststroke and won the 400 IM, with Allison finishing second. Allison also teamed with senior Betsy Balaguer, sophomore Nicole Lorigan and freshman Julie Sicherman to win the 400 free relay. Sophomore Nikki Perella took top honors in the one meter dive.
Lehigh will now have some time off for winter training. The Mountain Hawks next dual meet will be on Saturday January 20, when Lehigh hosts Army at Jacobs Pool with diving action beginning at 11 a.m.
