Lewandowski provided the only goal of the game in the 27th minute, as she collected a loose ball and rifled a shot from the edge of the 18-yard box past Bucknell goalkeeper Katie Dry for her third goal of the season. Senior Daniela Molina was credited with an assist on the play. Lewandowski’s goal was the 36th of her career, leaving her one shy of Lehigh’s career record.
Bucknell picked up its offense in the second half, but the Lehigh defense did its part in thwarting Bison attacks. Sophomore goalkeeper Julie Kafka made two saves to cement the Mountain Hawks’ fourth shutout of the year and help put an end to the Bison’s seven game winning streak.
“This was a good weekend for us,” said Lehigh head coach Manny Oudin. “To come away with two home Patriot League wins is huge for us. With a league this tough, the key is to take care of business at home and do the best you can on the road.”
Each team registered nine shots on the afternoon, while Bucknell held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks. The Mountain Hawks were whistled for 14 fouls, compared to eight for the Bison.
Katie Dry stopped four shots in goal for Bucknell as the Bison fall to 8-4-1 overall, and 2-1 in league games.
