“We had so many chances, but its frustrating because we just couldn’t put the ball in the cage,” said Lehigh coach Julie Mazer. “We still need to work on playing a more disciplined game from start to finish.”
Lehigh dominated the first part of the opening half, taking four shots—three of which were within a span of 45 seconds.
The Mountain Hawks had multiple chances to even the score in the closing minutes of the second half, including four penalty corners in the final two minutes, but Jill Lambert made several saves to thwart the Lehigh rally.
Lehigh out shot the Leopards 18-3 and held an 8-1 advantage on penalty corners. Junior Christy Smith had the most chances for the Brown and White, mustering eight shots including two on goal. Lambert finished with five saves for the Leopards to earn the shutout. Palmieri only faced one shot on goal and did not record a save.
The Mountain Hawks will be back in action on Sunday, when they host Rider, in the make-up of Wednesday night’s game that was postponed due to lightning. Game time is set for 12:00 pm from the Ulrich Sports Complex.
