The Mountain Hawks wasted little time taking the lead, as senior Lauren Calabrese scored on a feed from Lewandowski in the third minute. The goal was the third of the season for Calabrese, tying her for second on the team.
Colgate came back with an equalizer in the 28th minute. After a short corner kick, Kelly Niland fed Kelly Kuss, who beat Julie Kafka for her second goal of the season.
Lewandowski gave the Mountain Hawks the lead for good right before halftime, as she deflected home Hailey Coonrad’s corner kick at the far post for her second goal of the season and the 35th of her career. Coonrad picked up her team leading third assist on the play.
Junior Melissa Montalvo provided some insurance for the Brown and White in the second half, as she reeled in a long pass from senior Daniela Molina and fired a shot past Carly Sousa for her first goal of the season in the 56th minute.
“We came out early and caused some turnovers because of the pressure,” said Lehigh head coach Manny Oudin. “We got a little complacent in the first half, but to score the goal late in the half was nice.
“It was certainly nice to be back under the lights at Ulrich and to come away with a good result,” Oudin added.
Lehigh out shot Colgate 16-13 on the night, while the Raiders had six corner kicks to just two for the Mountain Hawks.
Kafka stopped four shots on the night, while Sousa stopped six shots before giving way to Brittany Pearsall late in the second half.
The Mountain Hawks will return to the pitch on Sunday when they welcome defending Patriot League champion Bucknell to the Ulrich Sports Complex. Game time is set for 1:00 pm.
