Lehigh tied the score with just 14 seconds remaining in the first half as junior Kelsey Smith found the back of the cage for the first time this season on a feed from Maureen Harrington.
The game was tied 1-1 at the half, but Cornell ran off four straight tallies – including two from Mandy Malzberg – to build a 5-1 lead. Lehigh senior Mary Beth Kuenne scored her team-leading third goal of the season on a penalty corner late, but it wasn’t enough for the Mountain Hawks.
Cornell and Lehigh each had 11 shots on the night, but the Big Red managed to find the back of the cage five times. Lehigh senior goalkeeper Meghan Gove made five stops on the night. For Cornell, Lizzie Goldblatt played the game’s first 64:27 in goal, registering seven saves in the win.
