It took the Hawks just a little over a minute to get on the scoreboard as Jess Daugherty found Kelly Galen at the far post on a free kick and Galen beat Julie Kafka to give St. Joe’s an early 1-0. The goal was the first yielded by the Mountain Hawks this season as Lehigh’s season-long shutout streak comes to an end after 456 minutes and 23 seconds. Kafka’s personal shutout streak ends at just over 361 minutes.
The Mountain Hawks would pull even five minutes before halftime as Gina Lewandowski buried a Melissa Montalvo pass in the top left corner for her third goal of the season. Following a scoreless second half and two scoreless ten minute overtime periods, Lehigh had its first draw since October 26, 2003 when the Mountain Hawks played Colgate to a scoreless tie.
“In a way it was good for the shutout streak to come to an end,” said head coach Manny Oudin. “It forced our team to have to battle back. I thought we did a good job battling back and we created chances, we just couldn’t put another one away.”
