WEST POINT, N.Y. – Lehigh picked up its second straight win Sunday afternoon, as Daniela Molina’s goal in the 96th minute propelled the Mountain Hawks to a 1-0 overtime win over Manhattan in the BAE Systems Classic at Army’s Clinton Field. The win, combined with Buffalo’s 3-2 victory over Army clinched the tournament championship for the Brown and White. Lehigh is now 2-0 on the young season, while the Jaspers fall to 0-2.

The teams played a physical, scoreless 90 minutes, before the Mountain Hawks broke through six minutes into the overtime period. Junior Lauren Calabrese sent a ball through to Jen Fetsick. The sophomore’s shot was stopped by Manhattan keeper Kiera Fox, but Molina pounced on the rebound and found the back of the net to give Lehigh the win and the tournament championship.

“We started out a little slow early, but the girls fought through it and got a result,” said head coach Manny Oudin. “We were able to hold Manhattan off, get a goal in overtime and I’m happy with the results this weekend.”

The Mountain Hawks out shot Manhattan 24-13 and had numerous chances in regulation, but could not beat Fox, who finished with 10 saves. Sophomore Brittany Besler got the start in goal for Lehigh and made three saves as the Mountain Hawk defense posted its second straight shutout.

Sophomore Michaela Pawlewicz, who helped anchor Lehigh’s backline was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. Pawlewicz was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Molina as well as teammates Gina Lewandowski and Shannon Lockwood.

Lehigh will return to the pitch on Friday afternoon, when the Mountain Hawks travel to Villanova. Kickoff set for 4:00 from Villanova, Pa.
