Leo earns Patriot League special teams accolades

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh freshman punter Jason Leo has been named the Patriot League special teams player of the week, it was announced Monday.  At the same time, the Mountain Hawks remained No. 13 in both major polls following last weekend’s lopsided victory over Georgetown.

Leo averaged over 44 yards per punt on three kicks in Saturday’s 46-14 triumph over the Hoyas.  All three punts landed inside the Georgetown 15-yard line, including his career best-tying 52-yard boot.  In addition, Leo attempted, and connected on, his first collegiate field goal try – a Lehigh season-long 43-yard attempt – in the second quarter.

Leo is averaging over 37 yards per punt in 2005.

Lehigh’s win over Georgetown propelled the Mountain Hawks into a three-way tie atop the Patriot League standings.  The Mountain Hawks remained No. 13 in both the Sports Network and ESPN/USA Today coaches poll.

Lehigh (7-2 overall, 3-1 Patriot League) returns to the gridiron on Saturday, November 12, when the Mountain Hawks visit Patriot League rival Fordham.  Kick-off is set for just after 1:00, and all the action can be heard live on ESPN Radio 1230 AM and 1320 AM beginning at noon with renowned veteran Matt Kerr and former Lehigh standout Kody Fedorcha ’00.
