Mountain Hawks host Georgetown on Family Weekend

11/2/2005 12:00:00 AM | Football

Lehigh returns to Goodman Stadium on Saturday to host Patriot League foe Georgetown as part of Family Weekend festivities.  The 13th-ranked Mountain Hawks are flying high following their fourth straight road win - a 50-34 triumph at Colgate.  The Lehigh win snapped the Raiders’ 22-game home winning streak against league opposition.

Sophomore quarterback Sedale Threatt was named the Patriot League’s offensive player of the week for his efforts in the Mountain Hawks’ 50-34 win at Colgate last week. Threatt registered a combined 287 yards of total offense and a passing touchdown in the win.

Lehigh senior tailback Eric Rath rushed for a career high four touchdowns in the win at Colgate, becoming the first Lehigh player since Ronald Jean in 1999 to rush for four scores in a game.  Rath has scored 15 TDs on the ground so far this season.  Rath ranks second nationally in scoring, averaging 11.3 points per game.

Meanwhile, the Hoyas return to the gridiron following a bye on October 29.  With two league games still on the docket, Georgetown has already won two against league opposition for the first time since joining the Patriot League in 2001.  Opponents have trouble passing against the Hoyas, who are leading the league in pass defense.  Senior Michael Ononibaku, second in the Patriot League with 5.5 sacks,  is relentless in his pursuit of the quarterback.  Freshman Jason Carter leads the team in tackles with 74.

Thanks to last year’s Lehigh win in Washington, the all-time series between these two schools is knotted up at 5-5.  Lehigh has won the last four games after Georgetown won five of the first six matchups between 1901 and 1925. The teams didn’t face off again until 2001.  In Patriot League play, the Mountain Hawks have out-scored the Hoyas 204-56 (average score of 51-14).

Saturday’s game kicks off at 12:37 pm.  Temperatures are expected to be unseasonably warm, with highs near 70 under mostly sunny skies.  Tickets to the Family Weekend contest can be purchased on-line via the link above, or by calling (610) 7LU-GAME during normal business hours.
