No. 8 Lehigh bests Lock Haven, advances to finals

Sophomore Patrick Berger started things off at 125 for the Mountain Hawks, but came out on the short end of a 6-3 decision against the Bald Eagles’ Obenson Blanc. Junior John Stout brought the Mountain Hawks even, scoring two takedowns, a reversal and three near fall points in a 10-4 win over Casey Moore. Cory Cooperman then gave Lehigh the lead with a 7-4 win over Clinton Shirk at 141.
Junior Matt Ciasulli extended Lehigh’s lead with a 5-2 win over Joshua Medina at 149. Derek Zinck then made it four tight decisions in a row, with a two point victory over Seth Martin.
Troy Letters finally provided some bonus points for the Brown and White with a first period pin of Brock Jardine, to put Lehigh up 18-3 after six bouts. Travis Frick then added four more to clinch the dual for the Mountain Hawks with a 14-5 major decision over Derrick Morgan. David Helfrich also contributed a bonus win with a major over Josh Fisk, who happens to be the older brother of Lehigh freshman Matt Fisk.
Junior Paul Weibel made his first start of the season at 197 and won a 10-3 decision over Troy Charles. Sophomore Dan Murrer wrapped things up for Lehigh, scoring four takedowns and a reversal in a 10-6 win over Tim Meyers.
